Elaine Cuddigan, 91, of rural Berthold, North Dakota, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026, at her home in rural Berthold, North Dakota.
Elaine Lavonne (Vedvig) Cuddigan was born on August 24, 1934 in Saco, Montana. She attended several schools in Montana before moving to Tagus, North Dakota in the 4th grade. She graduated from Tagus High School in 1952.
After graduation in 1952 she married Alan Cuddigan and they moved to the Cuddigan farm south of Tagus. Elaine loved working on the farm where they raised their five children. She enjoyed growing a large vegetable garden and a beautiful flower garden. She spent her free time crafting, painting, jewelry making, woodworking, sewing, collecting antiques, making teddy bears and so much more. She participated in area craft shows and took painting classes from local artists. She enjoyed music and dancing and spent many Saturday nights with her friends at the Moose Club in Minot. Elaine was a member of St. Olaf Church in Tagus and the Tagus Ladies Aide until it closed. She was a charter member of the Frayed Squares Quilting Club in Berthold and the Moose Club and Ladies of the Moose in Minot.
Elaine is survived by daughters, Carla Vannett, Deborah (Jim Guillergan) Cuddigan, and Cathy Burniche; son, John Cuddigan; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Elaine was preceded in death by Alan Cuddigan; son, Alan Cuddigan Jr.; sons-in-law, Loren Vannett and Thomas Burniche; sister, Lucille Woolsey; and granddaughter, Kelly Parker.
