Kief Redmer, 84, of Tioga, ND, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Trinity Medical Center in Minot, ND.
Kief was born April 1, 1937 in Kenmare, ND to Carl and Helene (Aufforth) Redmer. Kief attended country school through the 6th grade then moved to Grafton, ND for several years. He spent time in adult foster homes. The last few years, Kief lived in Group Homes in Belcourt, New Town, Stanley and his last move was to the Group Home in Tioga to be closer to where his brother, Buzz and sister-in-law, Terri lived.
Kief was usually happy and appreciative when Terri and Buzz would visit or take him out. On occasion he would say, “I don’t want to be mean or anything but” -------- sometimes he wouldn’t say anymore after that. But other times would say, “Maybe we could go to the café, you know I don’t get to go much.” Of course Buzz and I knew the Group Home Clients went on several outings a year.
In his earlier years, Kief enjoyed riding his bicycle to the country school and swing for hours. In his late years, he enjoyed writing letters and coloring in his coloring books. When younger and on the farm, he helped his dad with chores such as milking the cows.
Kief is survived by his brothers, Rex (Renee’) of White Bear Lake, MN and Buzz (Terri) of Tioga, ND; aunt, Marge Aufforth of Stanley, ND; nephew, Justin (Jackie) Hamers of Williston, ND; great niece, Marcella of Williston, ND; special friend, Jeanne Wold of Ray, ND as well as numerous cousins, extended family, clients and staff of the group home.
He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
