Marlo "Piker" Ray Salsbury
May 5, 1960 - October 26, 2024

Place of Birth: Sidney, Montana
Residence: Fairview, Montana
Age: 64

Marlo (Piker) Ray Salsbury was born May 5, 1960, in Sidney MT to Loyd & Myrl (Lyons) Salsbury. Piker grew up and lived on the family farm in the Girard Community of Fairview MT. Piker attended Fairview Schools and Wahpeton College for a couple of years.

Piker and his father owned Salsbury Well Drilling and worked together until Loyd’s death. Piker continued the business for many years after. Piker farmed his whole life and loved it. He was especially excited to see this year’s crop put “into the bin.” If he couldn’t get in the tractor, he often would cook a meal for the guys.

Piker enjoyed fishing weekends at Tobacco Gardens and entertained many friends and family there. Oh, the stories that cabin could tell! He loved kids, especially teasing them. Piker continued his mother’s love for animals and almost always had a dog at his side.

Piker was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Montana and North Dakota Water Well Drillers Associations, the Elks, and was a former member of the Moose Lodge.

Piker was a talker; he could visit with anybody. Joking and teasing were his specialties. He was kind and giving, donating to the food bank, benefits and other charities.

Piker passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at St Vincent’s Hospital in Billings, MT with family by his side.

Piker is survived by his sister-in-law, Pam Kilen of Fairview; brothers-in-law, Randy Davis of Sidney and Jerry Whiteman of Richey; nephews and nieces Marlon Kilen and Kenny (Connie) Kilen of Fairview, Jana (Harley) Olson of Richey, Janette (Sione) Tulimaiau of Billings, and Jamie (Leslie) Whiteman of Sidney; numerous great nieces and nephews, long-time family friend, Bill Lewis, and special friend, Rhoda Lyon.

Piker is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brother Marvin Kilen, sisters Janis Whiteman and Myrna Davis, and best friend Tim (Tim-Bob) Dolney.

I am fortunate enough to have known Piker. We may not of seen each other often. But when we did he had a big smile and handshake for me. I think that I am a better person for having known him. RIP Piker

Oh, what wonderful memories I have of playing at the farm with all the cousins! We always got into a bit of mischief chasing the chickens. Those times were so much fun. I’m so glad we could catch up during your visits to Reynolds and reminisce, dear cousin. Rest in peace, and please say hi to everyone in heaven for me.
