It Is Our Privilege And Purpose To Serve You
Doris Moore Goebel
December 7, 1933 - April 17, 2025

Place of Birth: Beach, North Dakota
Residence: Billings, MT formerly of Sidney, MT
Age: 91

Doris Moore Goebel was born on December 7,1933, to Phillip and Carrie (Anderson) Moore in Beach, ND. She joined her older sister (Barbara) Carol and they grew up on the family ranch near Trotters, ND. Doris was baptized as a baby and later confirmed in the nearby country church. Fond childhood memories included gathering eggs (while checking for rattlesnakes), listening to programs on their treasured battery radio, swimming in the Little Missouri River, and attending the Richland County Fair and Rodeo in Sidney, MT. Little did Doris know that years later she would become the manager of that same Fair and Rodeo!

Doris attended high school in Beach, ND and graduated in 1951. She then attended Valley City Teacher’s College and taught at country schools for two years. It was during this time that Doris met Darrell on a blind date arranged by her sister, Carol, and two years later they were married at Pella Lutheran Church in Sidney, MT on May 29,1954. That same year, Darrell was called into the Army and stationed in Hawaii where Doris joined him on the beautiful island of Oahu. They later returned to Sidney and civilian life to raise their three children: Dawn, Darcy, and Daren. While caring for her family, Doris also worked first as the secretary, and then in 1980 accepted the position of Manager for the Richland County Fair and Rodeo. She had great stories involving the country stars that she booked to perform including favorites Charlie Pride, Reba McIntyre, Vince Gill and Trisha Yearwood. She also loved working with the PRCA Rodeos and Bullfighting. Doris was chosen for the Sidney Business and Professional Women’s Club “Woman of Achievement” in 1983 and retired in 1990 after many memorable years at the job she loved.

Doris enjoyed hobbies including photography, music, camping, traveling, and being active in the Red Hat Society and the Happy Homemakers Club. It brought her great joy to take her family on trips to Disney World, Canada, Hawaii and Mexico. Doris treasured more than anything being a wife and mother. She said that hearing the laughter of her family was the best thing in her life, and precious time spent with her grandkids and great grandkids was never quite long enough!

Doris and Darrell were members of Pella Lutheran Church in Sidney and served in many ways through the years. They later attended King of Glory Lutheran Church in Billings. Doris was very thankful for her parents’ strong faith and the foundation they gave her. She passed that along to her children and encouraged them in church attendance, Bible study, faith and prayer. Her faith brought great comfort and hope during the trials and losses of life, including losing her only sister Carol in 1976. She loved and remained close to Carol’s family throughout her life. Doris and Darrell were married for 65 years before Darrell passed away in 2019.

Doris fought her way through many health issues the last several years, but remained cheerful and sharp, still playing games with her family the week before her passing. She was able to stay in her home thanks to many special caregivers including her grandchildren.

Doris passed away peacefully on April 17, 2025, at the age of 91 with family surrounding her at home in Billings, Montana.

Doris is survived by her daughters Dawn Minder and Darcy (Pete) Prevost and son Daren (MiSuk) Goebel all of Billings; her grandchildren Phillip (Ali) Minder and Clara (Kyle) Bayne of Billings, Anna Prevost of Moab, Utah, Madelyn Prevost of Billings and Nick Goebel of Washington; and her great-grandchildren Everett Minder and Hazel Minder of Billings.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband Darrell Goebel, her sister Carol Simonsen, brother-in-law Con Simonsen, and son-in-law George Minder.
