Caskets

Traditionally a casket is used in every situation, even with cremation you will need a casket of some type to complete the cremation request. Cremation caskets are made of wood or wood by-product. Most caskets are made either of metal or wood; and simply speaking are referred to as protective or non-protective, meaning they will resist the entrance of unwanted substance and water. All wood caskets are non-protective, but wood caskets are known for the beauty of their wood species and their unique grain. No two wood caskets are alike.

We may differentiate caskets also by their quality; Good, Better, and Best. Good caskets may be made of a thinner metal 20 to 18-gauge steel and will have a crepe-lined interior. Those of wood will be made of pine or poplar. Better caskets will be of a thicker metal like 18 to 16 gauge steel with a velvet interior, or of a wood species like Oak, Cedar or Maple. The Best quality of caskets will be made of precious metals like stainless steel, copper, or bronze, lined in velvet and are more corrosion resistant. Wood species in this quality will be fine cabinet woods; Cherry, Walnut and Mahogany.

Children and Infant Caskets Unfortunately at times our children are called "Home" before we are and this task is very difficult for all involved. Fulkerson’s provides caskets sized appropriate.

Vaults

Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home is a provider of the Wilbert Vault Products. The Wilbert Vault, over a ton in cement and added materials, exceeds all vault specifications and provides the protection families want. Vaults may be a requirement of the cemetery that you choose or may be an item of choice only. They are not a requirement of state law.

In a traditional burial the Vault is the item of protection that secures your loved one and their casket from the elements. Many find peace-of-mind knowing that things will remain, clean, safe and dry.
